Fortified church of Viscri

fortified church viscri

The fortified church of Viscri is hidden in the countryside of this lovely country, and we can say that here the time has stopped. Me and Peter were there to judge for ourselves. Hidden between Brasov and Sighisoara, the trip is really worth it. Witness of a past trend Saxon, the city managed to be very well rehabilitated, despite the village’s history and the Saxon community who is still there.

Biserica Alba (White Church), is extremely well preserved (UNESCO heritage), especially when you consider that it was built in the 13th century. It is representative of Transylvania by its fortifications which served the people to barricade during long fights. The towers give a breathtaking view of the surroundings from where one can contemplate the peace that reigns in the village, that had to be accepted by nature. One can also see a fairly comprehensive museum of peasant background who has not lost any of its history.

To reach the village, you will come out in Rupea (beautiful citadel also) towards Davia and Viscri, directly immersed in the atmosphere, you will meet countrymen, farms and animals, you drive also on the ground, you will admire a … timeless landscape.

The village is also very impressive, large white farms that line the dirt road form an obstacle to force us to go up to the church. Visit this village, many things have to do with it, there is also a local confections shop near the cemetery (wool, honey …).
